When it comes to shopping for wedding rings there are lots of options available. You'll see rings in all sorts of styles, and at many different price-points. However, it can still be hard to find exactly what you are looking for.
Generally, high-street jewellers offer factory-made rings that are available in certain widths. Most jewellers would offer widths of 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, etc., but If you are looking for a non-standard width, you might struggle to find it.
One of the reasons that our made-to-measure wedding rings are so popular is that we can make our rings at any width you like.
We work to the nearest 1/10 of a mm., so if you want, say, 3.2mm, or 5.7mm, that is not a problem.
The same applies to the thickness of metal that we use to make a ring.
to get the creative juices flowing.
We have grouped them into nine broad categories, but we often make rings that fall into none or these styles, and others that could fit into two or more.

The first step is to call for a brief initial chat.
Since 1985 Aurum designer-jewellers has worked with thousands of couples, creating made-to-measure wedding rings that are perfect for them.
We don't have sales people, so you'll speak with someone who actually makes rings.
Our advice is totally Free and without obligation.
There is a huge number of wedding rings out there on the market, but even so, it can be hard to find the one that is right for you.
So why restrict your choice to what is normally on offer, when you could have your ideal ring created just for you?
Our goldsmiths love working with customers to achieve the ring they dream of.
At Aurum, you won’t have to settle for “almost perfect”.
Yes, you can design your own wedding ring!
When you come for a consultation, one of our talented designer-goldsmiths will lead you gently through the whole design process.
Whether you have a specific design in mind, or are searching for inspiration, we'll start by listening to your brief.
You can take ideas from all sorts of places, and we'll work them into the design of your ring.
If you have an engagement ring, we can design your wedding ring to complement it perfectly. Simply by matching features like the profile, depth, and width, you can make it seem like your rings were designed as a set.
If your engagement ring does not sit comfortably with a straight wedding ring, we can produce a bespoke
fitted wedding ring that is shaped to sit perfectly alongside it.
Many couples like the idea of matching wedding rings. If both partners have the same taste they could have rings that are virtually identical, but scaled to fit the hand and the finger-size.
However if partners have different tastes, we look for design elements that appeal to both of them.

It might be just the material, or some design feature that will mark them out as a pair.
Often, a bride will have dainty ring set with diamonds, and the groom, a chunkier version without diamonds.
Essentially, there is no difference between a man's wedding ring and a woman's.
All of our rings are made to individual requirements.
Men's rings are often bigger and wider, although some brides want a wide ring, and some men prefer a narrow band.
We scale your ring to suit you, and many of the wedding rings shown on this site are men's rings.

The point of bespoke designs is that you don't have to hunt for the perfect ring.
We design your ring exclusively for you. - It will not exist until we make it!
If you have an engagement ring that does not fit with a straight wedding ring, you’ll need a fitted wedding ring.
Finding a wedding ring that fits perfectly with your engagement ring and is the right width and has the right profile is practically impossible.
The solution is to have it designed and made for you.
At Aurum designer-jewellers, we specialise in creating bespoke wedding rings., and many of the rings we are commissioned to make are designed specifically to fit the customer’s engagement ring.
We work in platinum, gold, and palladium.
Finding a wedding ring that complements your engagement ring perfectly can be difficult.
However many rings you look at, it could be that none looks quite right with your engagement ring.
The answer is to commission a bespoke wedding ring. This allows you to specify every aspect of the design.
Aurum individually designs and makes wedding rings to individual requirements. We are experts in creating wedding rings specifically to complement the customer’s engagement ring.
Ideally, the two rings should look like they were designed and made together as a matching pair.
They need to have features in common. If you want the wedding ring to be wider than your engagement ring, the thickness and the profile or cross-section of the band can still match.
If you want diamonds they can match the stones in the engagement ring.

There are various things that you should consider when choosing the metal for your wedding ring. If you want a gold wedding ring you have a choice of 22ct, 18ct, and 9ct gold.
The numbers denote the number of parts of pure gold out of 24 in the alloy.
22ct gold is the purest and the softest. It has a rich colour, but it is not the best choice for anyone with a manual job or an active lifestyle.
9ct gold has only 9/24 pure gold, and contains a lot of silver and copper, resulting in a paler colour.
18ct gold is the alloy favoured by good jewellers.
With 18/24 pure gold it has an attractive yellow colour and is tough enough for everyday wear.
If you prefer a white (silvery) metal, you have more metals to choose from.
White gold is made by mixing pure gold with a white metal such as palladium. White gold has a yellowish tinge and jewellery in this metal is usually electro-plated with rhodium to make it look whiter.
Unfortunately, rhodium plating wears off quite quickly, revealing the true colour of the white gold beneath.
Platinum is the best white metal.
It is very tough and hard wearing, and because it is naturally white it does not require rhodium-plating.
Platinum’s density gives it a luxurious hefty feel.
There are other metals available such as Palladium and Titanium, and we are always happy to discuss metal characteristics as well as your personal preferences and lifestyle in order to help you decide which will be the best metal for your wedding ring.
The thought of designing your own wedding ring can be daunting, but it is really a straightforward thing to do!
It's really about making a lot of small choices. When you put them all together you have your design.
If you look at pre-made rings, someone else (the manufacturer) has already made those choices.
When you book a design consultation at Aurum, a highly-skilled jeweller from our on-site workshop will sit down with you, and talk you through the design process.
If you have an engagement ring we'll start by taking a look at that. You need to consider how much room you have on your finger for the wedding ring.
Your might like your wedding ring to be exactly the same width as your engagement ring, but if you want it wider we need to establish the optimum width. (We work to the nearest 1/10 of a mm, so you can be quite precise about this measurement.)
The depth is also important. We usually suggest that the two rings should have the same depth, so that they sit on one level although, if your engagement ring is very thin, it might be wise to make the wedding ring a tad deeper to add a bit more strength.
Another consideration is the profile or cross-section of the band. Again, you might like to match the band of your engagement ring.
Generally, the more features the engagement and wedding ring have in common, the more harmonious the overall look.
Once we have thought about these basic features, we can move on to the details, including surface finishes, textures or patterns.
If you like the idea of diamonds in your band there will be lots more things to consider.
These include the number of diamonds, their size and quality, the method of setting, etc..
By the end of your consultation you will have designed your own wedding ring.
You'll probably find it an enjoyable process.
