A fitted wedding ring looks neater

A fitted wedding ring, (also known as a shaped-to-fit wedding ring or a shaped wedding ring), is designed to follow the shape of your engagement ring, swerving around any protrusions, eliminating gaps between the two rings. This looks more elegant and feels more comfortable.

A practical reason for fitted wedding rings

Because the engagement ring and wedding ring interlock snugly together, the scope for movement is limited, therefore friction is reduced. This results in less wear-and-tear to both rings.

Where shaped wedding rings are set with diamonds, there is the added benefit that the stones remain correctly aligned with those in the engagement ring.

When we are making a fitted wedding ring we need to borrow the engagement ring for a short time, so we can refer to it during the making process. This is the only way to ensure a perfect fit.

Fancy fitted wedding rings

Of course, a fitted wedding ring can be perfectly plain. However, we can make a fitted version of any of our styles of wedding ring.

For example, you might like some diamonds, or perhaps another metal inlaid.

This example has both stripes and diamonds. It could also be engraved or textured. The possibilities are endless!

Why fitted rings need to be custom made

Some jewellers offer mass-produced fitted wedding bands. - You just pick the style that fits your engagement ring best.

Unfortunately, you are very unlikely to find a ready-made ring that will fit your engagement ring perfectly.

This means there will still be unnecessary movement resulting in increased wear, caused by the two rings rubbing against one another.

We advise that, unless you do happen to find a perfectly fitting ring, (miracles do sometimes happen!) you should have a bespoke ring created specifically for your engagement ring.
