Our expert goldsmiths can give your unworn items a new lease of life, by transforming them into a beautiful piece of jewellery that you will enjoy wearing.
Every remodelling project is different.
It all depends on what you have now, and what you would like to be turned into.
We might take apart a large item to make several smaller pieces, or perhaps, combine lots of small items to create one larger one.
If you supply all of the materials needed you'll only pay for our work in creating your new piece.
However, we can supply extra metal or stones, if required.
This "trefoil" ring uses the diamonds from the customer's traditional trilogy engagement ring. We exchanged the old white gold mount for yellow gold, and set the diamonds in platinum.
The first step is to unset any stones in your unwanted pieces. You might want to use just the metal, just the stones, or everything.
If we are using the metal, we'll melt it down and pour to form an ingot that we can use to start making your new piece.
You might prefer a different type of metal. (For example, you have 9ct gold, but you want your new piece to be platinum.) We would weigh up your gold, work out its value, and then credit you with that sum to purchase the platinum.
Once we have made your piece, if there is excess metal remaining, we could take it from you at scrap value, to offset our labour cost, or if you prefer, we'll return it to you, to use in a future project.

Whether its broken, worn-out or just no longer to your taste, we can turn those unloved items into brand new jewellery that you'll enjoy wearing.
The first step is to give us a call for a brief chat.
Jewellery remodelling is the process of turning old jewellery into new.
A remodelling project could involve taking one larger piece apart and using the materials to create two or more smaller items. On the other hand, it might mean combining the materials from several small pieces to produce one larger item.
Sometimes there are diamonds or other gemstones to use, and in other cases there is just metal. You might have pieces that you can’t wear because they are worn-out or broken, or maybe they are unfashionable or just no longer to your taste. Perhaps you have inherited a piece that has huge sentimental value but is not wearable in its current form.
At Aurum designer-jewellers, we undertake a lot of remodelling work, and every job is different.
The process starts with us taking a look at what you have in order to work out exactly what materials you have to work with.
We’ll check the type of metal and weigh it. Often a customer has items in various metals perhaps including 9ct, 18ct and 22ct gold and platinum.
Sometimes it is best to use different metals in different items. We'll advise you on what is possible.
The next step is to discuss what you would like to have made. We offer ideas and advice without obligation.
Once we have come up with a design we’ll be able to quote a price which will be based on the amount of labour required to create the jewellery you want.
If you have precious jewellery that you don’t wear, you could use the metal and gems to produce a new item.
It is a shame to leave unloved jewellery tucked away in a drawer when it could be turned into new jewellery that you would enjoy wearing.
Regardless of what the items currently are, if they are made from gold or platinum they have value, and it is worth considering remodelling. When you buy a new piece of jewellery the price is made up of material cost and labour cost.
When you have old jewellery remodelled you are supplying the materials so you only pay for the labour!
If you have more gold than you need to make your new item, any excess can be used to offset the cost of the work.
Aurum jewellers undertake a lot of this type of work and we would be happy to talk to you about redesigning your old jewellery.
If you have precious metal that you don’t wear these items can be taken apart and the gold or platinum can be melted down to make new jewellery.
The current form and condition is not important. Whether it is worn-out rings, broken chains, odd earrings, links from a bracelet, or anything else, once it is melted it is just a piece of metal that can be turned into whatever you wish.
We undertake all sorts of remodelling work. Sometimes there are diamonds or other gems to use, and sometimes it is just gold. If you are not sure whether your pieces are real we can take a look and, if necessary, test them.
We’ll discuss what you would like to have made and let you know whether you have sufficient material. If not, we can supply extra gold or platinum as necessary.
Do you have an engagement ring that is no longer to your taste?
Maybe you have inherited a piece of diamond-set jewellery that is old fashioned or too dressy for your lifestyle. Instead of leaving these pieces sitting in a drawer or selling them, you could have them redesigned.
Aurum jewellers carry out all sorts of remodelling work. Sometimes we’ll update an engagement ring by placing the diamond in a more modern setting.
Often a customer will have a diamond cluster ring that she wants to bequeath to two or more family members.
We’ll unset the diamonds and melt down the gold or platinum to make a number of pieces, each with one or more diamonds from the original ring.
Another common situation is where a customer brings us several small pieces of jewellery with diamonds, and we use all of the stones in one striking piece.
If you are supplying all of the materials, you'll only pay for our labour.
If you need more gold or platinum, or perhaps an extra diamond or two, we can supply whatever is required to make the pieces you want.
We are always happy to take a look at what you have and to offer our advice and calculate prices.
