 Unlike most modern engagement rings, the Flick is made by hand in the traditional way, and as we start from scratch every time, endless variations on the theme are possible.  This means your Flick ring will be unique to you.

Designed to sit with a straight wedding ring

The Flick concept was originally inspired by the classic single-stone crossover engagement ring, which is a beautiful traditional style, but it does not sit well with a straight wedding band.


The Flick ring overcomes this simply and elegantly. With one straight side to fit perfectly alongside the wedding ring, the stone is pushed down the finger, and one shoulder flicks down to meet it, (hence the name).


This is the same engagement ring, shown alongside a diamond-set wedding ring.

With each Flick ring we start with the diamond, and design the ring around it, taking into account the personal preferences of the customer.


You choose the size and shape of the stone, the type of metal, the width, depth and profile of the band, the surface finish, and lots of other details that will make your ring unique.


We also create versions with other stones, including fancy coloured diamonds, sapphires, rubies and emeralds, and semi-precious stones of various colours and shapes.

Depending on the dimensions and the profile of the band, the concept can achieve rings that are bold, chunky and dramatic or delicate, fluid and feminine.


Chunkier and more angular versions tend to look more contemporary than the lighter, daintier ones with softer profiles, which are closer to the scale of a classic crossover solitaire engagement ring.


After listening to your requirements we guide you through the design process so that we arrive at the specifications for a Flick ring that is unique, and perfect for you.

  • What is a Flick ring?

    The Flick ring is a contemporary engagement ring that has become the signature style of jewellery designer Andrew Leggett.  It is  available from Aurum designer-jewellers,  in West Sussex


    It was inspired by the classic "two stone crossover" ring, which is a lovely style that has been around forever, but does not usually sit well with a straight wedding ring. 


    The Flick style overcomes this problem because it has one flat side to sit perfectly alongside the wedding ring. The stone is pushed down the finger, and one shoulder 'flicks' down to meet it - hence the name for this subtle and sophisticated contemporary engagement ring.

    The price of any ring is determined by the cost of materials and labour that go into it. 


    We need to know the weight of gold or platinum, so we first need the exact dimensions. It is likely that the diamond will make up a large proportion of the over-all cost, so we need to know the size and quality of the stone.
