Bespoke Jewellery

Aurum designer-jewellers offer bespoke jewellery of all kinds, the main focus being on items for “special occasions” – engagements, weddings, anniversaries, coming-of-age etc. We use traditional goldsmithing techniques to create stylish handmade contemporary jewellery in platinum, 18ct gold, palladium, diamonds and coloured gemstones.

Bespoke jewellery, in particular, bespoke engagement rings and wedding rings, has always made up a large proportion of what we produce. Our goldsmiths are always happy to offer expert advice. Whether you know exactly what you want, or are looking for inspiration, we work with you to achieve the ideal piece of unique jewellery. Many of the images on this website show bespoke jewellery, rather than items from our stock. read more»

Unlike most other jewellers, we don't employ sales staff.  Clients for bespoke jewellery deal directly with one of our skilled jewellery designers and goldsmiths who understands the technicalities involved, and can answer questions, and guide them through the design process. Usually this will be the goldsmith who will actually make your piece of jewellery, should you decide to order.

Each commission for an item of bespoke jewellery begins with the design consultation, where the client is encouraged to express their ideas and aspirations.  Whether you prefer avantgarde jewellery or something more classic, we take on board the breif you give us.  If you don't really have any ideas of your own, we are happy to make suggestions. With the use of rough pencil sketches some initial ideas are established. The designer will suggest possible variations, and offer as much advice as required by the individual client. Gradually these ideas are refined into a finished design. With fairly straightforward items this is usually achieved quite quickly, during the consultation, and many orders are placed at the rough sketch stage. However with more complex pieces another meeting is sometimes necessary to arrive at a finished design, and sometimes we use Computer Aided Design (CAD) to produce a photo-realistic image of the piece as it will look when finished. In such a case the CAD image can be e-mailed to the client.

In the case of  a gem-set piece, unless we are using a stone from our stock, we will have to source a suitable stone. We are able to supply a huge variety of gemstones through our contacts around the world.
We can supply certificated diamonds of all colour and clarity grades.
Although most of our clients visit us in person, we frequently undertake commissions for bespoke jewellery from all over the UK and abroad, with all arrangements being made using e-mails and phone calls.

A lot of the bespoke jewellery we make involves using some material supplied by the client.  - Take  a look at the page on Jewellery Remodelling.
