A position has become available in our workshop for a trainee jeweller. We are looking for someone to join our very small team. The position will involve mainly bench work, but as we are so small, it will include various other tasks, from dealing with customers in the shop, answering the phone, making the tea, dealing with the post, and in fact bits of just about everything that need doing in the business. The main part of the job will be working at the bench, producing handmade items of jewellery in platinum, palladium and gold. Virtually everything we do is bespoke, so we never know what the next job is going to be. - Engagement rings and wedding rings are our main thing, but we also make pendants earrings, bangles, and anything else our customers ask for.

A bespoke platinum and diamond ring

This design was based on the client's own pencil sketch. Although it looks a comparatively simple design, it was quite a challenge to achieve the over and under effect. We were pleased with the result, and the customer loved it!

I have just taken an order for an engagement ring from the daughter of a lady whose engagement ring and wedding rings we made twenty five years ago. The daughter has apparently always loved her mothers ring, and was keen to go to the same place to buy hers. The mother brought her daughter in for a design consultation, so I got to see the twenty five year old engagement ring, that has been worn constantly, and it still looks great. It is very pleasing that a second generation of customers has started to come to us for their jewellery, (especially when they are as charming as this family), but it did make me feel very old!

A platinum engagement ring with an emerald-cut diamond set across the finger. This style is tension-effect. - It looks like a tension setting when viewed from above, but as you see here, there is a bezel supporting the diamond and keeping it secure.
