If you own valuable jewellery it makes sense to make sure it is fully covered by insurance if it is lost, stolen or damaged.
We often speak to people who have been burgled or who have lost or damaged an item of jewellery. We estimate to replace or repair their jewellery, but in many cases they subsequently discover that their insurance does not cover their loss. Insurance is one of those things that it is all too easy to forget about. Many people consider jewellery insurance a waste of money, but if the worst happens you’ll be glad to have it!
Because of inflation values change over time. If your jewellery was last valued more than five years ago you should check that your insurance is still sufficient.
If you have acquired a piece of valuable jewellery, or if you are not sure that your jewellery is currently fully insured is worth taking expert advice to help you to decide whether to include jewellery cover as part of a home insurance policy or to take out separate insurance.
