Aurum designer-jewellers has been creating handmade contemporary jewellery in platinum, gold and diamonds since 1885. We have always specialised in bespoke jewellery, so we have a wealth of experience in working with our clients to create unique jewellery to their individual requirements.
From the beginning Aurum has worked with fine quality diamonds - especially certificated diamonds. Aurum was one of the first jewellers in sussex to offer palladium jewellery. We were creating palladium jewellery long before it became fashionable. read more»
Aurum designer-jewellers is a contemporary jeweller near Brighton in West Sussex. The company was set up in 1985, by jewellery designer Andrew Leggett, who had spent the preceding 10 years making high-class contemporary jewellery in the workshops, of eminent London jewellery designers John Donald and Geoffrey Turk.
For the first 16 years of Aurum, Andrew worked alone in the workshop, but in 2010, moving to a slightly larger premises meant there was room for more benches, and we now have three goldsmiths creating contemporary jewellery to commission and for our stock.
When recruiting a new goldsmith the company takes a graduate with a degree in jewellery design, straight from university, and trains them in-house to produce jewellery in Andrew Leggett’s style.
Our style is contemporary jewellery, with clean, simple lines, and tends to be asymmetric and slightly quirky, but without being outlandish. The scale of our work ranges from fine and delicate to chunky and even outsize. Our stock pieces are often used as inspiration for our clients when designing their own pieces.
Although most of our clients visit us in person, we frequently undertake commissions for bespoke contemporary jewellery from all over the UK and abroad, with all arrangements being made using e-mails and phone calls.
When commissioning a piece of bespoke jewellery from Aurum, you deal direct with one of our skilled jewellery designers and goldsmiths who understand the technicalities involved, and can answer questions, and guide you through the design process. Usually the goldsmith you speak to will be the one who actually makes your piece of jewellery.
If you would like to arrange a design consultation, or if you have any questions, or would like to discuss an idea, please call us.
Alongside our own creations, we also carry work by selected UK and European contemporary jewellery designers. - take a look at our Designers page.
